Post-9/11 GI Bill® (Chapter 33)

Eligible service members, spouses, and dependents may receive up to 36 months of education benefits. The following payments may be available:

• Tuition paid to the school
• Monthly housing allowance paid to the recipient
• Annual books and supplies stipend paid to recipient

How much a student receives in payments varies on enrollment at a public or private school, military status, and course registration each semester.

The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) determines a person’s eligibility for VA Education Benefits based on the military records they have on file for a service member, veteran, or a transferee.
