Military-Connected Student Organizations

Georgetown University is the home of a few military-connected student organizations that are structured to meet the needs of the academic program’s military students. In addition, Georgetown is home to the U.S. Army’s Hoya Battalion. The organizations are quite active on campus and are made up of both undergraduate and graduate students to make a community of military students and allies through social, academic, and networking programs while achieving educational goals.

Georgetown University Student Veteran Association (GUSVA) is a chapter of Student Veterans of America. GUSVA is a student group dedicated to advocating for veterans issues on campus. GUSVA’s goal is to make a community of student veterans, military families, and allies on campus who can support, network, socialize and assist each other as they achieve their educational goals. It is understood that education is a powerful tool for many veterans to transition to civilian careers and we want to maximize the opportunities for veterans to succeed on campus and beyond.

Most of all, GUSVA welcomes you to participate in social events or service activities to bring together the more than 1,400 military students currently attending Georgetown. You can sign up for the GUSVA newsletter by sending an email to gusva@georgetown.edu. And for getting plugged into all the GUSVA social activities, check out the GUSVA Facebook page.

The mission and goals of the McDonough Military Association (MMA) are to assist in the professional development and job search process of members, mentor incoming students, promote camaraderie among members, develop and maintain professional relationships with Veteran alumni, and raise awareness and support for the military at the McDonough School of Business.

MMA is open to all Veterans of the military, both Officers and enlisted, from all service branches and all nationalities studying at the McDonough School of Business, as well as their partners and any other students that are interested in learning about the military and sharing in the MMA camaraderie. Connect with MMA by emailing mba-vets@georgetown.edu and checking out the MMA Facebook page.

Military Medicine Interest Group (MMIG) is a group for Health Professions Scholarship Program students and those interested in military medicine to gain exposure to the unique aspects of military medicine.

The Military Law Society (MLS) is an organization for students interested in military or national security issues, law, and policy. The organization welcomes veterans, servicemembers, and aspiring judge advocates from all countries, as well as any student who wishes to learn more about the military and national security sectors.

MLS welcomes U.S. and foreign veterans, active service members, reserve and Guard, and anyone who is interested in military and national security issues, law and policy. Connect with MLS by emailing militarylaw@georgetown.edu and checking out their MLS Facebook page.
