Scholarship Opportunities for All Georgetown Students

Georgetown University offers a number of scholarships to both undergraduate and graduate students. For more information about institutional aid, please go to the Office of Student Financial Services. To be considered for an institutional scholarship, please be sure to complete the FAFSA and necessary procedures listed on the Office of Student Financial Services’ website.

Some graduate academic programs offer merit scholarships to their students. Please contact your academic program directly to determine if there are scholarships available and how to apply.

Georgetown Specific Military-Connected Scholarships

This resource walks through the application process and helps identify scholarships or grants that are best tailored for you.

Note: This program is currently not admitting new students due to budget concerns. Check back in on their website at a later date for updates on the 2026/2027 application cycle.

  • Eligibility: Students who are earning a Georgetown degree in an academic program at Georgetown that will result in sufficient cybersecurity training to be hired into a governmental cybersecurity position (both undergraduate and graduate) – see their website below for a full list of requirements
  • Amount: Varies (up to two years of tuition, stipend, and funds for books, travel, health insurance, and professional development)

  • About: Georgetown University has a grant from the National Science Foundation (NSF) through the CyberCorps™ Scholarship for Service Program to provide scholarships to students to earn degrees critical for cybersecurity in exchange for service in the form of employment in a governmental cybersecurity position. This national program is designed to educate the individuals who will design and protect the nation’s critical information infrastructure, define the policies, and write the laws that govern and protect this infrastructure, and educate the nation’s future generations of cybersecurity professionals.

  • Eligibility: student veteran at the Graduate School of Arts and Sciences (including the School of Foreign Service, School of Nursing and Health Studies, McCourt School of Public Policy, and the McDonough School of Business), enrolled in at least 6 credit hours per semester (preferably in an area of importance to national security), 3.0 GPA or higher
  • Amount: $5,000 (the funds will be applied directly to the awardee’s student account to pay for tuition and mandatory fees)
  • Due date: TBD for the 2026-2027 academic year (applications typically open during the spring, and the window will be announced through the MAVRC’s campus groups page)
  • About: Dr. Barbara Mujica is a professor in the Department of Spanish and Portuguese, acclaimed author and dedicated advocate for military students at Georgetown University. Dr. Mujica created and funds the Mujica Student Veteran Stipend to provide financial support for student veterans.

  • Eligibility: Veteran and active-duty military service members (or honorably discharged of pre-and-post-9/11 service) from all branches of the U.S. Military including the National Guard and Reserve OR current spouses of veterans or active-duty service members, including surviving spouses who are pursuing a degree as a full-time student in an undergraduate degree (Bachelor’s or above), graduate or professional degree at a public or private, U.S.-based accredited institution
  • Amount: Determined by the Pat Tillman Foundation on a case-by-case basis to meet the needs of each scholar
  • Due date: Early February each year
  • About: Founded in 2004, the Pat Tillman Foundation invests in military veterans and their spouses through academic merit-based scholarships – building a diverse community of leaders committed to service to others. The scholars chosen show extraordinary academic and leadership potential, a true sense of vocation, and a deep commitment to create positive change through their work in the fields of medicine, law, business, education and the arts. Georgetown University is a University Partner and collaborates with the Pat Tillman Foundation to select Tillman Scholars each year.

National Military-Connected Scholarships

  • Eligibility: Active duty personnel or honorably discharged veterans who served in Overseas Contingency Operations (from 2003 to present) and are now undergraduate sophomores or juniors studying in a STEM-related field with a GPA of at least 3.0 (see website below for fill list of eligible majors)
  • Amount: $2,500
  • Due Date: Closed for 2025 – check here for updates
  • About: The AFCEA (Armed Forces Communications & Electronic Association) Educational Foundation is dedicated to providing academic support to U.S. military personnel. The AFCEA NOVA chapter has partnered with the AFCEA Educational Foundation to make these awards possible.

  • Eligibility: Child or spouse of an active duty servicemember or veteran who is studying a STEM-related field (see website below for a full list of eligible majors) and has a GPA of at least 3.0
  • Amount: $2,500
  • Due Date: Around the beginning of May each year
  • About: The iWorks Scholarship will award one $2,500 scholarship to an outstanding spouse or child of a U.S. military service member who shows a potential to excel in college studies in the area of STEM. The expected graduation date cannot be in the year the scholarship is awarded.

  • Eligibility: Active duty servicemember studying a STEM-related field (see website below for a full list of eligible majors) with a GPA of at least 2.8.
  • Amount: $1,500
  • About: Oracle seeks to recognize one outstanding student who shows potential to excel in college STEM studies by awarding a one-time, $1,500 scholarship to a deserving active-duty military college student pursuing a STEM degree. This $1,500 scholarship will be applied towards the students ongoing higher-level academic education at an accredited Community College or four-year college or university. The expected graduation date cannot be in the year the scholarship is awarded.

  • Eligibility: Army, Navy, Marine Corps, or Air Force ROTC full-time sophomore or junior students studying a STEM major with an overall 3.0 GPA or above.
  • Amount: $2,500
  • About: The AFCEA (Armed Forces Communications & Electronic Association) Educational Foundation is dedicated to providing academic support to U.S. military personnel.

  • Eligibility: USAF/USSF Active Duty, Guard, or Reserve personnel pursuing a master’s degree in a non-technical field.
  • Amount: $3,000
  • Due Date: April 30 each year
  • About: Many of our nation’s Airmen, Guardians, and their spouses and families are on missions to complete higher education degrees. For years, the Air & Space Forces Association has funded those efforts as part of its own mission to support and encourage the prosperity of our nation’s Air & Space Force community. This scholarship is in memory of Captain Jodi Callahan who was an AFA Under-Forty National Director and a Trustee of the former Aerospace Education Foundation. This scholarship is made possible through contributions to the Jodi Callahan Memorial Fund by her family and friends.

  • Eligibility: Minor dependents of Active, Guard, Reserve, veteran, or retired members of any service branch
  • Amount: $1,000
  • Due Date: April 30 each year
  • About: Many of our nation’s Airmen, Guardians, and their spouses and families are on missions to complete higher education degrees. For years, the Air & Space Forces Association has funded those efforts as part of its own mission to support and encourage the prosperity of our nation’s Air & Space Force community. This scholarship is made possible by a bequest from Mr. and Mrs. Michael and Judith Burgstein, in memory of their devoted son and AFA Lifetime Member, Colonel Aaron Burgstein.

  • Amount: $5,000

  • Eligibility: Military spouses, military dependents, and transitioning service members  pursuing training, certification, or a degree related to oral health and wellness. This can include a range of programs, such as dentistry, nursing, home healthcare aid, caregiver training, etc.

  • Eligibility: Daughter of Active, Guard, or Reserve Air Force members pursuing a bachelor’s degree in a STEM field.
  • Amount: $5,000 (with possibility of renewal up to 4 years)
  • Due Date: April 30 each year
  • About: Many of our nation’s Airmen, Guardians, and their spouses and families are on missions to complete higher education degrees. For years, the Air & Space Forces Association has funded those efforts as part of its own mission to support and encourage the prosperity of our nation’s Air & Space Force community. This scholarship is made possible by a generous contribution from Dr. Ted Gold in memory of his wife Dr. Sydell Gold. Sydell was a pioneer for women in math and science, earning her Ph.D. in Theoretical Mathematics in 1973 when she was already the mother of three. Among her many accomplishments, Sydell served on the National Security Council under the Carter and Reagan administrations, was appointed Deputy Assistant Secretary of the Air Force for Strategic Systems and Arms Control, and established a Women’s Business Forum with one company to support women in technical and management jobs. She served on numerous councils and advisory groups, often as the only woman.

  • Eligibility: Unmarried military dependent children who possess a valid Uniformed Services Identification (USID) card and are pursuing a four year degree with a GPA of at least 2.5 (for college applicants) or 3.0 (for high school applicants)
  • Amount: $2,000
  • Due Date: Applications open December of each year
  • About: The Scholarships for Military Children Program was created to recognize the contributions of military families to the readiness of the fighting force and to celebrate the role of the commissary in the military family community.

  • Eligibility: Spouse or child (under 26) of a member of the U.S. military who died as a result of hostile action or in an accident related to U.S. combat operations or an employee of the U.S. government who died as a result of hostile action or in an accident related to U.S. combat operations.
  • Amount: Varies based on financial need
  • About: Folded Flag is a non-profit, 501(c)(3) organization focused on raising and awarding money in the form of educational scholarships to surviving family members of military and government employees who have lost their lives in combat while serving our country.

  • Eligibility: Dependent or spouse of fallen or disabled US service member
  • Amount: Up to $5,000 (based on the “unmet need” calculated on the Financial Need page of the application)
  • Due Date: March 31 each year
  • About: Since 2007, the Folds of Honor has carried forth this singular, noble mission. To provide educational scholarships to spouses and children of America’s fallen and disabled service-members.

  • Eligibility: Dependent unmarried children under age 23 of active-duty personnel, Reserve/Guard, retired service members and disabled service members or survivors of service members who died while on active duty pursuing a bachelor’s degree with a GPA of at least 2.5 (for college applicants) or 3.0 (for high school applicants)
  • Amount: Varies year to year
  • Due Date: Applications open December of each year
  • About: The Heroes’ Legacy Scholarship program honors service members who have died or become disabled during active military service since September 11, 2001. The scholarship grants for this special program are underwritten by the author’s after-tax proceeds from the book “Of Thee I Sing. A Letter to My Daughters” written by President Barack Obama, as well as corporate sponsorships and private donations. The amount to be awarded each year depends on the amount of royalties, sponsorships and other donations designated for this program.

  • Eligibility: Current service members and veterans who are beginning an undergraduate degree program. The National Achievement Program is open to anyone regardless of race, religion, creed, or culture. All veterans are eligible and must be legal residents of the USA.
  • Amount: $1,000-$5,000
  • About: The Jewish War Veterans Foundation (JWVF) was created in 2010 as a way to directly give back to the veteran community and to support American active duty military personnel, as well as all honorably discharged veterans, and those who were physically and mentally wounded as a result of their service.

  • Eligibility: Child of members of the Air Force pursuing a college degree (priority is given to applications majoring in a STEM field).
  • Amount: $2,500
  • Due Date: April 30 each year
  • About: Many of our nation’s Airmen, Guardians, and their spouses and families are on missions to complete higher education degrees. For years, the Air & Space Forces Association has funded those efforts as part of its own mission to support and encourage the prosperity of our nation’s Air & Space Force community. This program was made possible by a bequest from Mrs. Elizabeth L. Lindsay, widow of Lieutenant Colonel John Lindsay, a career Air Force officer stationed at Craig AFB in Selma, Alabama. The scholarship is in memory of their children John C. and Blanche Lee Lindsay who also passed away before Lt Col and Mrs. Lindsay.

  • Eligibility: Veteran or active duty student in an undergraduate or graduate program specializing in a field related to mental health counseling (including psychology, psychiatry, social work, and behavioral health)
  • Amount: $10,000
  • Due Date: early April each year
  • About: John Edelman is committed to supporting education that promotes improved mental health to veterans and service-members. He has committed to providing five $10,000 scholarships for high-performing student veterans pursuing degrees/careers in mental health counseling, and through the John Edelman Scholars program, to reward achievement and encourage further study.

  • Eligibility: Minor dependents of Air and Space Forces Active Duty, Reserve, or Air National Guard enlisted Airmen pursuing an undergraduate STEM degree.

For years, the Air & Space Forces Association has funded those efforts as part of its own mission to support and encourage the prosperity of our nation’s Air & Space Force community. This scholarship is made possible by a bequest from the estate of Lt Col Romeo and Josephine Bass Ferretti and the recipient will be selected by committee based upon high academic achievement, good character and financial need.

  • About: The Marine Corps Scholarship Foundation exists to provide financial assistance to the children of Marines and of former Marines pursuing higher education at accredited universities and colleges, or vocational schools.

For years, the Air & Space Forces Association has funded those efforts as part of its own mission to support and encourage the prosperity of our nation’s Air & Space Force community. Michael Donley was the 22nd Secretary of the Air Force, with more than 30 distinguished years of service in the national security community, including service in the Senate, White House, and the Pentagon. Secretary Donley was the longest serving Secretary in Air Force history and an outstanding leader. He and Mrs. Gail Donley have been unwavering champions of our Airmen, airpower, and their families.

  • About: Northrop Grumman Foundation is committed to supporting education that promotes the recruitment and success of a diverse STEM pipeline.

  • Eligibility: an Army veteran entering their sophomore, junior, or senior undergraduate year at a four year college or university with a strong commitment to their field of study and leadership
  • Amount: $10,000
  • Due Date: late March each year
  • About: Student Veterans of America and RTX have partnered to provide two (2) $10,000 scholarships to student veterans demonstrating a commitment to and passion for their chosen field of study, as well as demonstrated leadership and engagement within their community. The Patriot Scholarship is offered exclusively to U.S. Army veterans, and is named after RTX’s Patriot Air and Missile Defense System.

  • Eligibility: Navy or Navy reserve veteran entering their sophomore, junior, or senior undergraduate year at a four year college or university
  • Amount: $10,000
  • Due Date: late March each year
  • About: The RTX SPY-6 Scholarship, named for the U.S. Navy’s SPY-6 Family of Radars, provides returning sailors an opportunity to achieve educational goals and position themselves for success in civilian professions. Two $10,000 scholarships will be awarded to sailors who pursue an undergraduate or graduate degree at an accredited university and demonstrate leadership in their local community.

  • Eligibility: United States active duty service member, reservist, veteran or military spouse enrolled full time in the MSFS program. 
  • Amount: Varies based on financial need
  • About: The SoldierScholarship program is financial support for veterans that is open to all who defended our nation’s freedom and fought in the recent War on Terror (Operation Enduring Freedom, Operation Iraqi Freedom, and Operation New Dawn). Their mission is to help provide financial assistance for veteran soldiers who are taking the next steps forward in their academic and professional careers and to fill any tuition gaps the Post-9/11 GI Bill may leave.   • About: The Special Operations Warrior Foundation (SOWF) provides college scholarship grants, along with financial aid and educational counseling.

  • Eligibility: Current and former members of the Air and Space Forces, Air National Guard, and Reserve, and their spouses or children pursuing a college degree
  • Amount: $1,000
  • Due Date: April 30 each year
  • About: Many of our nation’s Airmen, Guardians, and their spouses and families are on missions to complete higher education degrees. For years, the Air & Space Forces Association has funded those efforts as part of its own mission to support and encourage the prosperity of our nation’s Air & Space Force community. This scholarship is made possible by a contribution from Col Conway B. Jones, Jr. in honor of the Tuskegee Airmen, a group of African-American airmen who fought in World War II at a time when racial segregation was practiced in the military and much of society in general. Their extraordinary legacy as dauntless trailblazers is captured in the Air Force refrain that challenges souls dreaming of skies to conquer to give us wings, ever to soar. In their spirit, this scholarship is offered to Air and Space Force personnel and their families to pursue and conquer their challenges.

  • Eligibility: Active duty, retired, honorably discharged, or a member of the National Guard or Reserve who separated or currently holds a military rank of E-5 or below and demonstrates a need for financial assistance at a VA-approved school
  • Amount: Up to $5,000

  • About: The VFW’s “Sport Clips Help A Hero Scholarship” provides service members and veterans with the financial assistance they need to complete their educational goals without incurring excessive student loan debt. It’s just another way for us to say “thank you” to those who fought for our freedoms.

  • Eligibility: Veteran with 100% service-connected disability or the surviving spouse or child of a deceased servicemember from a service-related death pursuing an associate’s, bachelor’s, or graduate degree

  • About: The Veterans United Foundation Scholarship creates opportunities for family members of service members and Veterans to achieve their educational dreams. Launched in 2012, the scholarship program is funded by contributions from Veterans United Home Loans and its employees. Since our scholarship program was created, over $1 MILLION has been awarded to support the educational dreams of military families across the U.S.
