Georgetown University recognized the need for dedicated support services to serve as a base of information and services to prospective, current, and alumni military students and out of that recognition, the Veterans Office was established in 2011. The leadership of military students, faculty, and administrators have worked diligently to create a campus culture to assist navigating the complexities of the education benefits, transitioning to a new academic environment, adjusting to Washington D.C., establishing relationships with other military students on campus, and connecting with career opportunities while enrolled and post-graduation. Georgetown University is the home of a few military student organizations that are structured to meet the needs of the academic program’s military students. The organizations are quite active on campus and are made up of both undergraduate and graduate students to make a community of military students and allies through social, academic, and networking programs while achieving educational goals.
